Referees

If you are interested in becoming a referee for the Beaumont Ringette Association, fill out an application form using the "Become a Ref" link on the homepage (only available between June and September).

Referees must be at least 14 years of age and able to commit to a minimum of one game per week (if requested). New officials will need to complete Ringette Canada’s Level 1 Officials clinic, the Referee in Chief will provide you with information on how to get started.

The Level 1 officiating clinic is designed to educate the new official in the basic techniques of officiating. The topics include:

  • Qualification and pre-game duties
  • Positioning and on-ice mechanics
  • Violations and rules
  • Body contact principles
  • Signals
  • Skating skills assessment

The clinic is wrapped up with a Level 1 quiz, with a 50% pass required to certify. Required items for an official include skates, black CSA certified helmet, whistle, black pants and an officials jersey.

We will begin accepting request for the in June of each season when player registration opens.

IMPORTANT:  Roster space for Beaumont Referees is limited and referee clinic fees will only be reimbursed by BRA if you are part of our roster and have officiated a minimum of 5 games.

If you have any question, please contact the Beaumont Referee in Chief (refinchief@beaumontringette.com).
